The son of a Venetian silk weaver, Anesi became one of the most important landscape painters active in Rome in the mid-eighteenth century. Collectors greatly admired his ideal landscapes and views based on studies of the Roman countryside, described as\u00a0Bambocciata or genre scenes with peasants.\u00a0\u00a0He worked in fresco and oil on canvas, many of which were collected by British and French tourists and expats, who admired\u00a0vedutisti\u00a0like Anesi, Canaletto, Giovanni Paolo Pannini and\u00a0Francesco Guardi.
