{"id":705,"date":"2024-12-08T18:57:18","date_gmt":"2024-12-08T18:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.everett-art.co.uk\/shop\/?post_type=product&#038;p=705"},"modified":"2026-08-10T17:18:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T16:18:33","slug":"pieter-casteels-iii","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/everett-art.co.uk\/gallery\/product\/pieter-casteels-iii\/","title":{"rendered":"Pieter Casteels III"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\"><strong>PROVENANCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Acquired from The collection of the Late Edgar Wigan, Bradstone Brook, Shalford.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>ABOUT THE ARTIST:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The son of the Flemish painter Pieter Casteels II (referred to as Casteels the Younger) whom he studied under.\u00a0 While Casteels II was best known for his capriccio harbour scenes and landscapes of his native Antwerp, Casteels III worked primarily in England, where he immigrated in 1708 at the age of 24 and began his career copying Old Master.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Casteels III painted still lives of flowers, and bird and game scenes, and in 1726 produced a volume of twelve plates of bird etchings. Following the success of the publication, he created similar volumes for both flowers and fruit.
