A collection of hand-lettered gold leaf plaques bearing artists' names and painting titles

Plaques

A dying art, carefully preserved.

The time-honoured tradition of hand-lettered gold leaf plaque making is a dying art that we, under the mentorship of two retiring makers in London, have been able to continue.

Plaques are integral to the framing of significant and historic pictures. We produce them in both hand-painted and screen-printed versions, on gold leaf shaped bases, lettered with the same care and precision as the artworks they accompany.

We continue this craft under the mentorship of two of London's last remaining plaque makers — ensuring a skill that might otherwise have been lost is passed on.

The Craft

Every letter,
hand-cut and gilded.

Each plaque begins with a gold leaf shaped base, gilded and lettered using traditional tools — many of them decades old — before being hand-finished ready to accompany its painting.

What We Offer

Hand-Painted Plaques

Lettered entirely by hand using a fine brush, in the traditional manner passed down through generations of makers — fitting for a particularly significant or historic piece.

What We Offer

Screen-Printed Plaques

A screen-printed alternative on the same gold leaf shaped bases, offering a precise and consistent finish.
