This was a late 19th-century art colony based in the Cornish fishing village of Newlyn, near Penzance. Artists flocked there for the area’s natural light, dramatic coastal scenery, and rustic way of life.

This is one of those paintings that needs careful This is one of those paintings that needs careful and correct diagnosis and treatment not to repeat and previous failing….it might, of course, not be in a previous treatment but in the conditions that it has hung…however, I suspect a combination of both in this case.
These untouched paintings only pass by the studio These untouched paintings only pass by the studio infrequently, but the state of preservation is testament to the quality of the original materials..and being left in a stable environment (heat/humidity) ever since.
